Andy Warwick could miss Ulster's crucial Heineken Champions Cup tie against La Rochelle on Saturday after he was cited for a dangerous tackle on Manu Tuilagi during the heavy loss to Sale Sharks.

Tuilagi was forced off for a HIA and did not return after clashing heads with Ulster loosehead Warwick during the first half of Sale's 39-0 win at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Warwick and Ulster escaped punishment at the time, with referee Mathieu Raynal viewing the head contact as accidental.

Warwick was cited by EPCR on Tuesday morning and will face an independent disciplinary hearing on Thursday, which could rule him out of Ulster’s must-win game against the defending champions at Kingspan Stadium.

Elsewhere, Newcastle Falcons hooker Charlie Maddison has also been cited for an alleged headbutt on Connacht scrum-half during their Challenge Cup tie in Galway.

Cell C Sharks prop Ox Nche was banned for three weeks after being red-carded against Harlequins while London Irish’s Agustin Creevy, who also saw red against Montpellier, was also due to face a hearing later on Tuesday.

Pau head coach Sébastien Piqueronies is alleged to have made physical contact with referee Sam Grove-White following their Challenge Cup game against the Toyota Cheetahs.

He could face a minimum ban of six months.
