Ireland have appointed Ged Corcoran as their new head coach following the departure of Stuart Littler.
Offaly-born Corcoran, who won 11 international caps during his playing days, will lead his country into the end-of-season World Cup.
Predecessor Littler had been scheduled to take charge during the tournament - which was postponed for 12 months - before leaving the role last week.
"Ged brings a wealth of direct experience and knowledge, in preparing a squad to compete in the highest competition in our great sport, to his new role as head coach," Rugby League Ireland chairman Jim Reynolds said in a statement.
"Ged Corcoran is well known to our grassroots players in Ireland being heavily involved with them, especially our pathways players.
"Player development is an area that Ged wants to use his head coach position to help drive even further with an emphasis on developing players for (World Cup) 2025."
Ireland kick off their World Cup campaign on 16 October against Jamaica at Headingley and will also take on New Zealand and Lebanon in Group C.
Further announcements regarding Ireland's coaching team are expected to be made later this week.
