Wasps overcame two controversial refereeing decisions including a red card shown to Jacob Umaga to register a stirring 30-22 Heineken Champions Cup victory over holders Toulouse.
Francois Cros scored early for the defending champions but Wasps, currently eighth in the Gallagher Premiership, scored two tries through Biyi Alo and Brad Shields to lead 14-7 by the time Umaga was sent off for his challenge on scrum-half Martin Page Relo, referee Chris Busby stating there was head-to-head contact and no mitigation.
Thomas Ramos clipped over the subsequently penalty to leave the score at 14-10 at the break. Jimmy Gopperth slotted two penalties for the hosts in the third quarter to extend the lead to 20-10.
Toulouse were rattled and only able to show glimpses of the brilliance that swept them to a fifth European Cup crown last season, but they were the next to score through hooker Peato Mauvaka.
But England prospect Alfie Barbeary crossed for the crucial try in the 69th minute to push Wasps 12 points in front entering the closing stages. Gopperth added a penalty to set the seal on the win as the clock ran down and the late from Emmanuel Meafou proved immaterial for the French side.
Remi Picquette scored a brace of tries as La Rochelle recorded a thumping 39-21 victory over Bath at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre to record their second victory in the Champions Cup.
Tries from Jonathan Danty, two either side of half time from Picquette, the bonus point score from Dillyn Leyds and a fifth from Raymond Rhule left the scoreline at an embarrassing 39-0 just before the hour mark.
Bath salvaged some pride with a trio of tries from Johannes Jonker, Joe Simpson and Ruaridh McConnochie leaving the scoreline at a rather more respectable 39-21 at the finish.
But it was nonetheless a resounding win for Ronan O'Gara's charges sit second in their league with two wins and a draw from three games.
HEINEKEN CHAMPIONS CUP: POOL STANDINGS
Racing 92 qualified for the quarter-finals of the Heineken Champions Cup with a hard-fought 25-10 victory over Ospreys in a game played behind closed doors in Swansea.
It took some time for the French side to quell their spirited opponents but Ospreys' defeat leaves them pointless after three games, with their remaining fixture a difficult one at Sale.
Their only try came from Keiran Williams, with Gareth Anscombe kicking a penalty and a conversion to give the Welsh side a 10-8 half-time lead.
But Racing 92 took charge in the second period, with Teddy Thomas and Virimi Vakatawa touching down, Antoine Gibert converting both and Finn Russell adding a penalty. Julian Imhoff's try and a Maxime Machenaud penalty had come in the first half.
Exeter, meanwhile, kept themselves firmly on course for a place in the Heineken Champions Cup knockout phase with a whopping 52-17 win over Glasgow at Sandy Park.
The Chiefs emphatically avenged their defeat in the Glasgow fog just before Christmas, finding overdrive after trailing by three points with 50 minutes gone.
Exeter, European champions in 2020, cut loose with four quickfire tries to demolish Glasgow's victory hopes and secure a bonus-point success that brought the round of 16 within touching distance.
Wing Tom O'Flaherty scored a hat-trick, while there was a double for number eight Sam Simmonds before skipper Luke Cowan-Dickie, Jack Nowell and Dave Ewers also scored. Fly-half Joe Simmonds kicked four conversions and centre Henry Slade two.
Glasgow, who now face a crunch clash against La Rochelle in their final pool game next weekend, posted tries through lock Kiran McDonald and flanker Matt Fagerson, both converted by Ross Thompson.
Piers O'Conor scored two tries as Bristol qualified for the Heineken Champions Cup last 16 with a hard-fought 28-17 win over Stade Francais at Ashton Gate.
Stade Francais, who presently lie 10th in the Top 14, offered stubborn resistance but bore no resemblance to their predecessors, who reached the final of the tournament on three occasions.
Bristol's other tries came from Henry Purdy and Harry Randall with Callum Sheedy kicking four conversions.
Leo Barre and Antoine Burban crossed for the French outfit as Nicolas Sanchez converted both and added a penalty.
