Win over All Blacks makes Ireland stronger, says Argentina's Petti

Guido Petti doesn't believe his Argentina team will be facing an Ireland side lacking motivation following their superb win over New Zealand.

The match-up against the All Blacks was always going to be the highlight of the Autumn Nations Series for Andy Farrell’s side but Petti says Los Pumas won’t go down the road of thinking that Ireland will take their foot off the pedal at the Aviva on Sunday (2.15pm, live on RTÉ).

"After victories like Ireland had last week I think you become stronger, not weaker" said the Bordeaux-Begles forward, who turns 27 today.

"They are going to have great confidence and even after what happened last week they’ll still be a serious team.

"They are a great team and I don’t think a great win is going to make them stop.

"It’s the last match for them before the Six Nations so they will want to end these Tests in the best way.

"They are going to be really well prepared.

"I think they are really consistent. They are doing a lot of things differently than before.

"They did almost the perfect match with the lineouts and the scrums, with [60%] possession.

"We know that Ireland is always playing phases and phases and if they have to keep the ball for 20 minutes they will do it to search for the indiscipline of the other team.

"I wouldn’t say that in this last match they played in another mode that they wouldn’t play normally."

Argentina scored five tries against Italy

Petti missed the 37-16 win over Italy on Saturday with a knee injury but is hopeful of returning for the Dublin clash.

"I hope I will, until now it has been good," he said after training.

Mario Ledesma's side recorded their first win of the season having lost all their matches in the Rugby Championship.

Asked what went right against the Azzurri, Petti said: "Phases in attack, we were not finding much before.

"Against Italy we got the nice senses between each player and we did some great things with the lineouts, mauls, we dominated the lineout and the scrums."
