Ulster hooker Bradley Roberts has been called into the Welsh squad for the Autumn Nations Series.

The 25-year-old is drafted in as cover following a back injury to hooker Ken Owens.

Born in South Africa, Roberts qualifies to play for Wales through ancestry, briefly playing in Wales in the early stages of his professional career.

"Roberts has represented RGC before moving to Northern Ireland and later joining Ulster for the 2020/21 season.

"Roberts is eligible to play for Wales through his paternal grandmother, who hailed from Llandysul," a statement from the Welsh Rugby Union reads.

The hooker was drafted into Ulster's senior squad in 2020 after impressing for Rainey Old Boys in the Energia All-Ireland League, and has been a regular fixture in Dan McFarland's side this season, scoring two tries in five games.

Roberts won't be in the squad for tomorrow's Test with New Zealand at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Yesterday, hooker Owens joined a lengthy Welsh injury list, which includes Louis Rees-Zammit, George North, Leigh Halfpenny, Liam Williams, Dan Biggar, Josh Navidi, Justin Tipuric, and Taulupe Faletau.

Their meeting with the All Blacks is the first of four games for Wayne Pivac's side, who also face South Africa, Fiji and Australian during November.
