Leinster back-row Josh Murphy has been banned for two games for making accidental contact with the eye area of Glasgow Warriors player.

Murphy was cited for an incident that occurred in the province's Pro 14 Rainbow Cup defeat in Scotstoun earlier this month.

A judiciary hearing decided today that "while there was contact made to the eye area of the opponent, it was unintentional and part of a fluid motion."

The panel concluded that a low-entry act of foul play had occurred, meriting a four-week suspension, which was reduced by 50% due to the player's "impeccable conduct throughout the process" and his "genuine remorse".

As a result, Murphy will miss Leinster's next two "meaningful games", which will come in the United Rugby Championship in September.
