Ronan O'Gara will take sole charge at La Rochelle next season after signing a contract extension until 2024.
The former Ireland international and Munster outhalf has been head coach at the French side since 2019 and with Jono Gibbes set to leave his director of rugby role to take the coaching job at Clermont, O'Gara will be his replacement.
"I am extremely proud of the trust that Stade Rochelais continues to show me by appointing me as the head of the team," said O'Gara.
"I am obviously very excited about next season, but first, we have important challenges ahead of us and above all a good season to end in the best possible way."
The Atlantic-coast outfit have had a superb season so far. They are level with Toulouse at the head of the Top 14 table and will play Leinster in the semi-finals of the Heineken Champions Cup on 2 May.
