Leinster will host Toulon while Munster have been face Toulouse in the Round of 16 draw for the 2020-21 Heineken Champions Cup.

The Irish pair had been guaranteed home ties in today's draw after winning both pool matches they had played prior to the suspension of the competition.

Both provinces were drawn to play against traditional aristocrats of French rugby, Toulouse travelling to Limerick to face Munster, while Leinster will meet Toulon in Dublin, both games fixed for the first weekend of April.

Munster easily overcame Toulouse in their most recent meeting in the competition in the 2016-17 quarter-final

However, away quarter-final games await both Irish provinces should they progress.

Should Leinster overcome Toulon, they will be away to the winners of the Exeter Chiefs-Lyon encounter, meaning a possible quarter-final trip to Sandy Park to take on the reigning champions.

Munster, meanwhile, will be rewarded with an away quarter-final against the winners of Wasps-Clermont Auvergne.

In January, the Champions and Challenge Cups were suspended temporarily following a directive from the French government regarding the participation of the country's clubs in both competitions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a revised format, the pool stages were cut short in favour of moving straight to knock-out fixtures.

In the Challenge Cup, Connacht face a trip to twice European Cup winners Leicester Tigers while Ulster are away to Harlequins. The two provinces dropped into the Challenge Cup having lost their two Champions Cup pool clashes.

Should Ulster win their last-16 game, they will face an away quarter-final to the winners of the Dragons-Northampton game. If Connacht get past Leicester Tigers, they will be rewarded with a home quarter-final against the winners of Ospreys-Newcastle Falcons.

The round of 16 matches in both competitions will take place on the weekend of 2/3/4 April, with the quarter-finals scheduled for the following weekend (9/10/11 April).
