The postponed Guinness PRO14 clash between Munster and Leinster has been rescheduled for Saturday, 23 January at Thomond Park, with a kick-off time of 7.35pm.

Originally scheduled for St Stephen's Day at the Limerick venue, the derby was called off as Leinster were investigating the outcomes of some of the results from their latest round of Covid-19 PRC testing.

The province later confirmed that all players and staff had tested negative when results were returned.

After Monday's announcement confirming that the next two rounds of the Champions Cup have been postponed, the Pro14 have also refixed Glasgow v Edinburgh for this Saturday.

The game was originally scheduled for 27 December but was postponed because of Warriors' Covid-19 issues. It was called off again at short notice last Friday night because of a frozen pitch.

Speaking yesterday, RTÉ Rugby analyst Bernard Jackman said that playing the Munster v Leinster before Ireland's Six Nations game against Wales on 7 February "would be brilliant as it would be full-strength teams, which we haven't seen for a while in interpros."

"A lot of our internationals have only played one round of the interpros over Christmas because of player welfare and the necessary break they get.

"It wouldn't be ideal for Ireland and Andy Farrell if they went into the Six Nations with only one game in five weeks."
