Kieran Treadwell has been handed a three week ban after being cited for a challenge on Scarlets' Javan Sebastian during their Guinness PRO14 clash last Sunday.
Treadwell was issued with a yellow card after TMO Brian MacNeice advised referee Andrew Pardi against sending the Ulster player straight off in the clash at the Kingspan Stadium.
The lock was cited under law 9.13: "a player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously. Dangerous tackling includes, but is not limited to, tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the line of the shoulders even if the tackle starts below the line of the shoulders."
The offence was deemed to be mid-range, with the Treadwell's record, his remorse, and his co-operation with the citing committee all taken into account.
As things stand, he will miss Ulster's Champions Cup opener against Toulouse in Belfast on 11 December, but should be free for their trip to Gloucester the following week.
Treadwell can still choose to appeal the decision.
