Munster's CJ Stander is the only Ireland player nominated for the 2020 Six Nations player of the championship award, but the six-strong shortlist is dominated by France.

It's been a bumper afternoon on the awards front for Stander, who was named Munster's Player of the Year for a third time in six seasons.

The South African-born back rower played all five games in this year's interrupted Six Nations campaign, making his 43rd cap in the Stade de France on Saturday, emerging as one of the visitors' most impressive performers as their tilt at this year's title disintegrated in the second half.

Champions England boast two nominees, lock Maro Itoje and scrum half Ben Youngs.

Despite missing out on the title, it was France who captured imaginations and they are represented by their dazzling half-backs Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack and imperious number eight Gregory Alldritt.

Last year's winner was Wales second row Alun Wyn Jones.

Voting is done by supporters on the championship's official website with the winner announced on Friday.
