With the Irish public being urged to maintain social distancing and self-isolate if required, we are increasingly looking for movies to watch, books to read and rooms to clean.

RTÉ Sport is speaking to our sports stars and asking how they're using their time and tweaking their training routines to stay fit and healthy.

Today, it's the turn of Munster scrum-half Nick McCarthy.

I’ve been trying to do a few minutes of meditation every day.

Netflix and chill or a nice evening jog?

Netflix and chill. I prefer to get the work done in the morning !

Name one book you want to read?

I’ve just started Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. He’s a retired Navy SEAL, and his mindset is incredible. I’m enjoying it so far.

See how other Irish sportspeople are keeping boredom at bay

Name one movie you want to watch?

I’ve been meaning to watch The Irishman but will probably have to break it up a bit, I would find it very hard to sit there for 3 and a half hours straight!

What’s the best way to stave off boredom?

Definitely a tough workout, you feel great when it’s finished!

Have you any tips for training at home?

Set training goals for the week. Keep changing the sessions up so you don’t get bored. Set a time limit to keep the session intense.

Name one documentary you want to see.

Michael Jordan has a documentary series coming out on Netflix soon called The Last Dance. I’m looking forward to watching that.

Have you discovered any new music or podcasts?

I’ve been going back over some old Spotify playlists to change things up.

Is there one piece of housework you can no longer avoid?

Mum and Dad had me painting the doors when I got back home a few weeks ago. Hopefully I’m off the hook now for a while!

Favourite room of the house to spend time in?

TV room, the sun comes in there in the morning so it’s nice sitting there with a coffee.
