Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has included a number of uncapped players for his first Ireland training session later this month, but there is no place for Rob Kearney in the 45-man squad.

The new coaching team will host a "24hr mid-season stocktake" at the IRFU's High Performance Centre in Dublin this Saturday and Sunday with a number of new fresh faces included.

Connacht’s Caolin Blade, the Leinster quintet of Will Connors, number 8 Caelan Doris, Max Deegan, newly Irish qualified scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Par and 21-year-old hooker Ronan Kelleher are joined by Ulster pair Billy Burns and Tom O’Toole.

Ulster prop Marty Moore, who last played for his country after collecting his second Six Nations title in 2015, is  recalled to the extended squad, while lock Devin Toner and in-form Ulster scrum-half John Cooney return after failing to make the World Cup squad.

Rory Scannell, Stuart McCloskey, Ross Byrne  and Dave Kearney are among those looking to make a greater impression for a Test place under Farrell.

There is no place, however, for 93-cap Rob Kearney, while Jordi Murphy, Sean Cronin, Jack Carty, Kieran Marmion and John Ryan also have failed to make the cut.

"The national coaches have been around the provinces watching games and having good conversations with players and the provincial coaches," Farrell said.

"We have limited opportunities across the busy provincial season to bring a broad group like this together but this 24 hour window will allow us to plant a few seeds. It will also give the coaches a better insight into a few players who been performing consistently well for their provinces.

"The next six weeks is the window for players to put their hands up for selection for our first squad which will be named in late January ahead of the Six Nations."
