Ireland's men's team are through to the quarter-finals of the Cape Town Sevens as Pool D winners.

Following yesterday's impressive win over Australia, the side saw off Samoa on a 28-14 scoreline with tries from Jordan Conroy, Harry McNulty, John O'Donnell and Terry Kennedy.

That was followed by 24-24 draw with Kenya in their final game to set up a clash with the runners up in Pool A.

Meanwhile, the women's side will have to content themselves with a play-off tie with Brazil for 11th place after defeats to Australia, 29-0, and England, 36-7.

Eve Higgins was the Irish try-scorer.
