Ireland's World Under-20 Championship finished on a disappointing note after a 40-17 defeat to New Zealand in Rosario.
Noel McNamara made eight changes for the game from the side that lost out to England during the week.
New Zealand burst out of the blocks and tries from Etene Nanai-Seturo (2), Oliver Norris and Leicester Fainga'anuku had them 26-0 up after just 20 minutes.
Josh Wycherley got Ireland's only score of the half, but Dylan Tierney-Martin went over just after the break and when Ryan Baird finished a superb move in the 49th minute, the Six Nations champions had a lifeline.
However, Tamaiti Williams and Shilo Klein scored further tries for New Zealand and that meant an eighth-place finish for the Irish.
Meanwhile, France retained their title with a 24-23 win over Australia in the final.

Captain Charlie Ryan said: "[We're] Disappointed with that last game. We just didn’t show up for the first half and when you go down against the All-Blacks you lose."
"Proud of that second half performance from the lads - really dug in."
"Proud of the whole tournament. A lot of stuff didn’t go our way but we’re really proud of the way the lads got stuck in and gave it their all. I couldn’t ask for more from the lads."
