England Under-20 and Sale Sharks back Cameron Redpath has been banned for six after admitting he bit Ireland hooker Dylan Tierney-Martin.

The incident occurred in Monday's fifth-place play-off semi-final at the World U20 Championships in Argentina, which England won 30-23.

Redpath, the son of former Scotland scrum-half Bryan Redpath, will not be available for Sale (for whom he has already made 13 senior appearances) until 21 September, but the later season start due to World Cup means the 19-year-old will miss one Premiership game.

The offence carries a 12-week entry point but the World Rugby disciplinary committee considered the player's "previously clean record, early acceptance of his conduct, apology, youth and inexperience to reduce the sanction by the maximum 50 per cent to six weeks."
