Leinster have confirmed that flanker Dan Leavy will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious injury in the Heineken Champions Cup victory over Ulster.
The 24-year-old was a second-half replacement for Sean O'Brien, but his outing was cut cruelly short after just 11 minutes, as he appeared to suffer a significant knee injury.
The game was delayed for a number of minutes to allow Leavy to receive medical attention before departing the field of play. Afterwards head coach Leo Cullen confirmed it is a serious injury for the Ireland international.
"Dan has had a bad injury. I don't want to get into too much detail. He will be out for a while. We will get it assessed and take it from there," he said.
"It's a tough one for Dan."
Luckless Leavy played no part in Ireland's Six Nations campaign and had just once game under his belt this year following a calf injury.
Elsewhere for Leinster Rory O'Loughlin suffered a hamstring injury while replacement scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park went off for a Head Injury Assessment.
"The squad is going to be so important," Cullen added.
"We will probably make a lot of changes against Treviso next week so it is going to be a great opportunity for a lot of our guys to showcase what they can do."
