Paul O'Connell is ready to cut short his stay with Stade Francais, according to French broadcaster RMC.

The former Munster second-row signed a two-year forwards coaching contract with Stade last August, with the option of a further year.

However RMC claim that O'Connell has told Stade players and officials that he will leave at the end of the current season.

According to the report, difficulties in the relationship between O'Connell and head coach Heyneke Meyer are to blame.

RMC also say that O'Connell's former Munster and Ireland team-mate Mike Prendergast will leave the French giants at the end of the season, with Toulon interested in taking him as a coach.
