Griggs: We want results, we need to fix that

Ireland women's coach Adam Griggs says that they can't keep talking about player development forever and that results need to improve.

A top-three finish in the Six Nations is the IRFU's stated minimum goal for the team and a first-ever defeat to Italy last time out means that Ireland have ground to make up.

The visit of France to Donnybrook on Saturday evening [live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Radio 1 Extra] presents a daunting task for Griggs' charges.

"We have targetted that top-three finish and there's only so much building and talking about younger players that you can have so we would be disappointed with [finishing lower], absolutely," Griggs told RTÉ Sport.

"I guess that the way we are playing is exciting and if we can do that more often than not we probably are making progress

"In terms of the new caps and younger squad members we are pretty happy with where we are going but we want results and at the moment we are not getting those. We need to fix that.

"We probably beat ourselves [against Italy] a little bit, being able to score four tries away from home... it was the defensive side of things we've got to make sure we improve."
