Chris Farrell and Tadgh Beirne will both return Ireland camp this week despite question marks over their fitness.

Centre Farrell was forced off during Munster's Pro14 hammering of Southern Kings on Friday night with a knee injury.

Versatile forward Beirne missed the first two games of the Six Nations, against England and Scotland, with a knee injury he picked up in the Heineken Champions Cup win over Exeter last month.

He's continuing his rehab while Farrell is being assessed but they will both head for Carton House ahead of this weekend's clash in Italy.

CJ Stander will stay with the province as he recovers from the facial injury he suffered against the English. He's out for another fortnight.

Munster also reported that Brian Scott (foot), James Cronin (leg), Dave O’Callaghan (foot), Tommy O’Donnell (shoulder), and Sammy Arnold (leg) are making good progress on the comeback trail.
