Former New Zealand star Dan Carter has re-joined Racing 92 as an injury replacement for the remainder of the season.

Carter, the all-time top Test scorer, had been playing with Kobelco Steelers, the champions of Japan's Top League.

Carter was with the Parisian side from 2015 until last year and has returned to fill the void left by Patrick Lambie, who was forced to retire die to concussion.

Racing 92 face Toulouse in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Champions Cup and would be on course to meet either Leinster or Ulster in the semi-final.

Carter was due to face Leinster in last season's final in Bilbao but was ruled out shortly before kick-off due to injury.
