Ireland scrum coach Mike Ross is confident that his side will learn the right lessons from last weekend’s Women’s Six Nations defeat to England.
England put Ireland under the screw at Donnybrook, running in eight tries as they romped to a 51-7 victory over the hosts.
Ireland hung on gamely in the first-half but were blown away by a second period whirlwind from the fully-professional England side.
Ross was keen to emphasise that they could learn from their opponents.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, he said: "It was very disappointing for us to get a result like that but looking back on the game, I can’t really fault the effort they put into it.
"I think we were just less than accurate at times, falling off one-on-one tackles, just little bits around the game that you need to compete at this top level.
"In fairness to England they are a fully professional side and they showed that’s the standard you need to get to.
"We never want to go out like that. I thought we were in the game at half-time but then they blew us away with three tries after half-time and that was kind of the game.
"In fairness to the girls they kept on working but I think they had just that bit too much and were too classy for us.
"You take your learnings from it and then go forward to the next game."
That next match is against Scotland at Scotstoun Stadium on Friday evening.
Like Ireland, the Scots come into the game off the back of a defeat after they went down 28-7 to Italy on the opening weekend, a result which came a surprise to many.
While Ross is expecting a response from his side after defeat to England, he also warned of a potential backlash from the Scots.
"Certainly the game against Scotland, there’s going to be an extra big of emphasis on that we rectify what happened.
"Scotland will be hurting after losing to Italy, certainly at home, I don’t think that was a result they anticipated. They were a tough opponent last year.
"But as long as we up our game I think that we can come away with a result but we’re going to have to learn the lessons."
