Leinster head coach Leo Cullen admitted his side were "a little bit fortunate" to beat Connacht on Saturday night in the Pro 14 clash at the RDS.

The home side overturned a 17-point deficit in the final 15 minutes as Connacht were left devastated by Andrew Porter’s late, late try.

Cullen told RTÉ Sport: "We're a little bit fortunate to come away with the win, especially with a bonus point on top.

"I had a few words in my head for the dressing-room but they changed over the course of the last 10 minutes.

"I give full credit to the players for being able to turn it around.

"I think the crowd got plenty of value. Both teams showed pretty good attacking intent. We were a little bit rusty in the first half defensively.

"We had some new combinations in the team and it looked a bit disjointed at times. I thought Connacht were very good at exploiting some of the space that was there. We looked a little bit dead and buried at one moment in time.

"I thought the bench brought really good energy. Once the players knuckled down and realised that when they carried hard and saw the space, then they looked good.

"They showed good composure to get over and good character to hang in there until the very end. For 65 minutes we were second best so there is lots for us to improve on."

Cullen has now set his sights on shuffling his side again for the clash with Munster in six days’ time.

He has already targeted areas to be better in to avoid such a difficult night again.

The Leinster boss said: "We looked a little bit patchy in attack. We misfired in terms of accuracy around the set-piece. We didn't really get into much of a flow. There was a couple of times we made some decent inroads. The players did adapt reasonably well during the game.

"Defensively was the one area we probably got pulled apart quite easily. We know they are a dangerous attacking team with a lot of pace but we gave them too many easy opportunities from our end.

"We knew there was a certain risk with the lack of cohesion we had going into the game compared to Connacht's [selection].

"We'll take tonight, we'll try to get a little bit better for our next outing on 29 December against Munster which is going to be a very, very tough challenge

"We try to manage a few different players at this time of year. There is a few different restrictions. It's just trying to get exposure for some guys as well. We'll look at a few different combinations for next week."
