Connacht full-back Tiernan O’Halloran wants to change more history when his side visit the RDS to play Pro14 champions Leinster on Saturday (7.45pm).
The westerners ended a 58-year hoodoo when beating Ulster at Ravenhill in October.
It’s 16 years since Connacht last got the better of the reigning Pro14 champions on their own patch – a 26-23 win at Donnybrook – although they famously beat Leinster in the Pro12 final in 2016 in Murrayfield.
"We won up in Belfast for the first time in [58] years and obviously the RDS has been a tough place for us," the Ireland international told RTÉ Sport ahead of the cross-conference clash in Dublin.
"We have got close in the last year or two so that’s another bit of history we’d like to get rid of as well.
"We’ve had some incredibly tough fixtures up there where we’ve got some pretty bad beatings.
"Last year we had a chance to win the game, got through 20 or 30 phases up to the try line but we didn’t go for the drop-goal for the draw because we knew that wouldn’t change the history.
"It’s something that we’ve been building towards for the last couple of years.
"I feel like we’re in a good place but we’re under no illusions who we are going up against – probably the best team in Europe, and they have been for the last couple of seasons as well.
"We’ve massive respect for those guys and we’re not taking them lightly."
This weekend @connachtrugby will attempt to beat European Champions @leinsterrugby on their home patch for first time since 2002. Young @Tiernanoh11 😉 doesn’t remember it! More on @morningireland sport shortly on RTE Radio 1 pic.twitter.com/lLyDdLdNQa
