Leinster's Joe Tomane has been ruled out of action for up to five months after undergoing a procedure for a hamstring injury, the club has announced.

The 28-year-old, who was capped 17 times for Australia, sustained the hamstring issue in their 38-31 victory over the Southern Kings earlier this month.

Tomane started for Leo Cullen's side in that tie and has lined out for the province nine times since his arrival this season.

Meanwhile, Rory O'Loughlin is going through a period of rehabilitation after picking up a knee ligament injury but the club reports that his outlook is positive with a further update expected next week.

Leinster's next outing will be against the Ospreys in the Guinness Pro14 on 23 November at the RDS.
