Ulster scrum-half John Cooney has recovered from the head laceration he sustained during Ulster's defeat to Munster.
It was the second game-in-a-row that Cooney suffered a cut to his head but he has vowed to keep his scrum cap firmly on from now on.
"It’s feeling okay, I was wearing a scrum cap, I was overheating and I wasn’t used to it," explained Cooney.
"I was getting a bit annoyed, we were 22-points down, I felt I needed to make a play, I took it off and then on the first carry I got a knee right on the exact spot again so I cut open half of it again and then got another cut below it and I had to get a few more stitches. It should be fine, I’m not taking that scrum cap off again"
As well as his injury, Cooney had to deal with a heavy 64-7 defeat to Munster. The victory surpassed the 61 points put past Caerphilly in 2001 and their largest ever winning margin of 47 against Zebre two years ago.
"It ruined a lot of our weekends, I was annoyed, personally it was a lot more annoying than the cut on my head.
"It was a bleak bus journey home, we had worked hard, we had gone nine games unbeaten, so that was the killer of it all we’d really built some hard work there it was pretty hard to take.
"But the sun always rises in the next day and we all did work well again and we were all in here Monday working hard and today was one of our best sessions we ever did.
"We are going to have to take the positives from it, we will have to learn and it will happen every now and again.
"I’ve been on the end of those types of defeats before with other teams and it’s made me stronger personally and we will have to take the positives from it.
"There was a feeling that everyone was hurting pretty bad. it’s pretty evident when you ship that many points in a game that you are going to be disappointed.
"Jared (Payne) was very angry but he kept it together, he said that’s gone, we can’t do anything about it now, all we can do is win the next moment."
Next up for Ulster is a meeting with Connacht on Friday in Kingspan stadium.
