Joey Carbery is the missing link at Munster, according to team-mate CJ Stander.
The 22-year-old turned from blue to red at the end of last season, as he departed Leinster to get out of the shadow of Ireland out-half Johnny Sexton.
Munster have struggled to replace Ronan O’Gara, who retired in 2013 and a succession of fly-halves have tried and been unable to get the two-time Heineken Cup winners back to the top table.
Heralded as the man to make a difference in the coming years, Carbery is likely to face his old side this Saturday at the Aviva (6pm).
Ireland number 8 Stander said: "He’s came in straight away, fitted into the mould like he’s been here years.
"Playing with him up in the Irish set-up and training with him, you know him as a player.
"He’s a guy that brings a lot of calmness, relaxation almost into the team, he runs everything with a cool head.
"That was something we need, you can see it on the pitch. I can see it on his face, he enjoys it here."
Another newcomer to have impressed Stander is five-cap All Black Alby Mathewson, who made his debut in the weekend rout of Ulster at Thomond, wowing the crowd with a memorable lineout throw-in.
"He had a great debut," said the South African on Mathewson, who was signed on a short-term deal as cover for the injured Conor Murray.
"He surprised us all with his NFL throw. I think we were all stressed when he threw it but it worked out, it was quite good.
"It’s something he brings to the team, to the training as well. It’s great to have a guy like that with all the experience he has in the team, he brings a bit of energy and something new."
In injury news, Tyler Bleyendaal is in full training and continuing to work towards his long-awaited comeback from a neck problem.
Full-back Mike Haley was withdrawn from the squad ahead of the Ulster clash due to a tight hamstring and is being monitored.
