Munster lock Jean Kleyn has committed his future to the province by signing a new three-year contract, keeping him there until 2022.

The 25-year-old South African joined the club just over two years ago and made his Munster debut in September 2016.

Kleyn has scored six tries in 42 appearances for the province.

"I came over here two years ago with the intent of trying to make my mark at Munster and I've got another three year opportunity and I'm delighted," he said.

"I'm very happy to sign and glad to get it out of the way so early just to show my commitment to Munster as well.

"I think I've been treated exceptionally well since I've arrived at the club. From the players to the staff to the coaches to the fans - obviously they've received me exceptionally well."

Kleyn has settled well in Munster and is keen to continue enjoying life in Ireland, so much so that he has one eye on earning a spot in the Ireland squad.

"I have my house and my dogs and I'm as happy as can be. I've really enjoyed my move over hear and I really enjoy my rugby here, that makes life so much better. When you're enjoying your rugby it makes everything better.

"I think ever rugby player has an aspiration to play at the highest level and they way Ireland are playing now they are the highest level.

"If I could possibly make the team by merit I would love to play, it's an opportunity I would relish but I've always said my commitment lies with Munster at the minute.....until, if the day comes and I get called up."
