Munster flanker Chris Cloete is back in training and closing on a return to action after a lengthy lay-off with a fractured forearm.

Johann van Graan's men face the Ospreys at Irish Independent Park this Friday and though that Pro14 clash will come too son for Cloete, the South African is on the comeback trail.

He suffered the break last February in Munster’s defeat of Glasgow Warriors and required surgery which prematurely ended his season.

Cloete's pre-season was disrupted by a groin problem but has returned to the fold and been reintroduced to full training.

The province confirmed Conor Murray's continued absence is due to a neck injury and his rehab is continuing under the supervision of the province's medical team.

There are fears over Billy Holland (rib) and particularly Neil Cronin (shoulder) who were both replaced in the first half of Friday's loss in Glasgow.

Scrum-half Cronin begins a rehab programme and may be out for the next few weeks. Holland is receiving treatment this week after getting a bang at Scotstoun.

Meanwhile Tipperary man Cronan Gleeson has signed a three-month development contract with the province.
