Munster have been landed in a pool with the Top 14 champions and the Aviva Premiership runners-up for the 2018-19 Champions Cup season in the draw made in Switzerland on Wednesday afternoon.
Johann van Graan's team have been drawn with Top 14 winners Castres and Exeter Chiefs, pipped by Saracens in last month's Premiership final, in Pool 2. Gloucester, the lowest placed qualifier from the Aviva Premiership this season, complete the pool.
Reigning champions Leinster have been drawn in a pool with Wasps, Toulouse and Bath, none of whom reached the latter stages of the competition in 2017-18. Leinster joined the French side at the top of the roll of honour in the European Cup with their triumph in May but Toulouse have not been the same force in Europe in recent years.
Ulster, who qualified for the 2018-19 tournament with a play-off win over Ospreys in May, have been dropped into a tough pool with Champions Cup finalists Racing 92 and Pro 14 finalists Scarlets, with two-time winners Leicester Tigers completing the quartet.
Of the remaining pools, Pool 3 contains recent two-time champions Saracens alongside Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues and Lyon.
While Pool 5 contains Toulon, the three-time champions between 2013 and 2015, Edinburgh, Newcastle Falcons and Montpellier.
In the Challenge Cup, Connacht have been placed in a pool with Paddy Jackson's new club Perpignan, Sale Sharks, and Bordeaux Begles.
