Munster coach Johann Van Graan acknowledged his team face a game against "incredible opponents" in the Pro14 semi-final after their four-point win over Edinburgh in Thomond Park this afternoon.

Van Graan's side meet Champions Cup finalists Leinster in the RDS in the semi-final in a fortnight's time.

They had to survive a second-half surge from Edinburgh before progressing.

Tries either side of half time from Rhys Marshall and Keith Earls - the latter arriving after a wonderful piece of skill from Simon Zebo - left them in a commanding position.

However, a penalty and a converted Nathan Fowles try made it a one-point game with 20 minutes remaining. Munster steadied the ship and JJ Hanrahan slipped over a late penalty to give them some breathing space.

Head coach Van Graan told RTÉ Sport that he felt his team were comfortable before the sucker punch midway through the second half.

"At 17-6, we were comfortable," he said.

"They scored a penalty and then that try and it became a one-point game. Right to the end, they showed their fighting spirit right up until the final whistle.

"Look, this was a quality side we played today. They made it a tactical battle and so did we.

"We took one or two opportunities. One an individualistic piece of brilliance from our backs. We're just glad to get through this one.

"All credit to them and to our guys. It was a massive battle there in the last five minutes.

"It was a set-piece battle. We lost Stephen Archer pretty early.

"We lost Brian Scott during the week to injury. We lost John Ryan. So, with Ciaran Parker coming in - and he hasn't really played at this level - I thought he did incredibly well.

"I thought we defended quite well and then it became about discipline. It was a game of pressure and we came through on top."

Munster now have to head to Dublin in a fortnight to face Leo Cullen's imposing Leinster side in the last four.

The winners will face the winners of Glasgow Warriors and Scarlets in the other semi-final.

"We'll enjoy tonight. We were very disappointed two weeks ago.

"We fought back last week and our next aim was to win this one at home. Like every win, we'll enjoy this one for now and we'll get back to the drawing board.

"We're going to play against incredible opponents in their back yard. They've shown throughout the whole season how good they are, at Thomond Park and back at the Aviva and in the Champions Cup.

"So, it'll be a massive game going there."
