Ireland Women ended their Sydney 7s campaign with a win as they overcame the USA 19-10 in the seventh place play-off.

Defeats to New Zealand and France yesterday set up a meeting with the USA and tries from Louise Galvin (2) and Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe, with two conversions from Lucy Mulhall, saw Ireland emerge with the win.

There was more consolation for the Irish camp as captain Mulhall finished second in the tournament's performance chart, which measures tackles, breaks, carries and offloads.

Australian beat New Zealand in the final, a match refereed by Ireland's Joy Neville.
