Connacht moved top of Challenge Cup Pool 5 after a 15-8 win over Worcester at the Sportsground.

The Westerners made it two wins from two in a real battle at the Sportsgoprund, with Eighan Masterson supreme for the hosts in tough conditions.

Masterson went over in the first half and Matt Healy dotted down just after an hour to squeeze out Worcester, with Josh Adams getting the visitors try in the 56th minute.

Connacht started with a powerful wind on their backs and made the eprfect start with a try on six minutes.

Tiernan O'Halloran punctured holes in the Worcester defence and fed Darragh Leader, who kept it moving to up Masterson. He crashed over; Jack Carty missed the conversion.

Carty nailed a terrific penalty from range in the 21st minute but Worcester rode it out until half-time, trailing 8-0 but having faced down the howling gale.

Their tails were up when Josh Adams got over 12 minutes into the second following great work by Dave Denton but seven minutes later a clever grubber kick from Kieran Marmion was gobbled up Healy.

He crossed the whitewash and this time Carty added the extras.

Jono Lance's penalty five minutes from time made it a nervy end for the hosts, but they saw it out to take the win and leave Worcesetr with a losing bonus.
