JJ Hanrahan is set to return to his home province of Munster for the 2017-18 season.

The 24-year-old left Munster in 2015 to join Northampton, where he played 23 times in his first season.

However, an ankle injury has limited him to just two appearances this campaign and he is a doubt for next weekend's Champions Cup game against Leinster,

With Hanrahan's contract up next summer, Munster have acted swiftly in agreeing a deal to re-sign him where he will be expected to provide competition for outhalves Tyler Bleyendaal, Bill Johnston and Ian Keatley - if the latter is offered and extension when his contract expires in June.
