An inexperienced Ireland side were put to the sword by Canada as the visitors ran in seven tries in a 48-7 victory at the UCD Bowl.

The Canadian pack, in particular, made light work of the hosts' forward unit after head coach Tom Tierney made a host of changes from the side narrowly beaten by England last week.

DaLeaka Menin, Julianne Zussman and Karen Paquin all crossed the whitewash and Andrea Burk kicked nine points as Canada raced out to a 24-0 half-time lead.

Out-half Nikki Caughey went over early in the second half to raise hopes of an Irish fightback, but Canada racked up further tries from Emily Belchos, Laura Russell, Magali Harvey and Zussman as the world's third-ranked side completed a convincing victory.

Tierney is certain to recall his frontline players for next week's clash with New Zealand, who also face Canada midweek.
