Ireland’s Jordi Murphy will be out of action for between six and nine months after damaging the ACL in his left knee, team manager Mick Kearney confirmed today.
The Leinster flanker suffered the injury during Saturday’s victory over New Zealand in Chicago.
Kearney confirmed that out-half Johnny Sexton, who was replaced in the second half, is not an injury concern.
“Johnny’s good,” said Kearney. “He cramped up a bit after 60 minutes. He actually hadn’t played an awful lot of rugby in the previous six, seven weeks so he came off purely because of cramp but he’s fine.”
Tiernan O’Halloran, Niyi Adeolokun, Dan Leavy, Darren Sweetnam, Dave Kilcoyne and Jack O'Donoghue have been added to the squad for Saturday’s clash with Canada at the Aviva Stadium, which is live on RTÉ2.
Kearney also confirmed that Ulster fly-half Paddy Jackson, who withdrew from the trip to America for personal reasons, has returned to the squad.
