At the end of an emotionally draining week for all involved with Munster, the players paid the ultimate tribute to their late coach Anthony Foley with a performance "befitting of the love and affection” they had for the man.

Back in Foley’s heyday perhaps they would have made the fans wait a little longer for the match-winning score but it was all heart and determination that saw off the challenge of in-form Glasgow.

As the match ended Michael Corcoran summed up the mood around Thomond Park, while Munster greats Donal Lenihan and Denis Hurley gave their insights into the feelings swimming around the heads of the players, who only laid their friend to rest a day before the game.

“It was almost as if there was a bit of divine intervention there,” said Lenihan. “They honoured Anthony Foley in the best way possible.”

In a heart-wrenching scene at the end, Anthony Foley’s sons, Tony and Dan, joined the Munster panel for a rendition of ‘Stand up and Fight’.
