Munster head coach Anthony Foley says he is looking forward to working with the province’s new director of rugby, Johan 'Rassie' Erasmus.

Munster announced during the week that the former Springbok would start in the position in July and "will have overall responsibility for defining on-field strategy and ensuring its implementation.”

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after their 27-19 win over Edinburgh, which gives the Reds' Champions Cup hopes a huge boost, Foley said: “For everyone to look forward to working with Erasmus in the coming seasons will be great.

“We knew the announcement was coming. It was said last March that there was going to be an appointment of a director of rugby.

“So I think having that done, how quickly it was done and how undistracting it was for the group, the coaches and players, so a lot of credit to the people that did it.

“We were told it could be six weeks or six months and great credit to [Munster Rugby CEO] Garrett [Fitzgerald] and the professional games board to get it done as quickly as they did and get a man of that quality and of that experience to come in.”
