Connacht head coach Pat Lam has confirmed that his side will be releasing seven players at the end of the current season, including Fionn Carr and Aly Muldowney.

Former Ireland Under-21 star Carr has struggled for fitness and has been unable to nail down a regular place in the Connacht side this year while Muldowney is believed to be on his way to French side Grenoble at the end of the season.

US international and Connacht's first-choice number 10, AJ McGinty had already revealed that he will be leaving the Sportsground at the end of the season.

McGinty is set to take over the Sale number 10 shirt that will be vacated this summer by Danny Cipriani's return to his former club Wasps.

Veteran back row George Naoupu will also be leaving at the end of the season, after five successful years with the Westerners.

Connacht confirmed that Jason Harris-Wright, Api Pewhairangi and Ian Porter will also be leaving.

Lam wants all seven players to leave on a high and said: "It's always a difficult time of year when we have to make decisions about the future makeup of the squad. Within professional rugby, every team sees changes in their squad from one season to the next.

"What we have achieved so far this season, and what remains to be achieved, has come on the back of the hard work of every single player in this current squad. I know everyone is committed and excited to finish the 2015/16 season together on a massive high.

"We recognise and value the contribution these men have made to Connacht Rugby and we will celebrate it together with our supporters at the end of the season."
