Leinster tighthead Marty Moore has undergone surgery on his injured foot which ultimately kept him out of Ireland's Rugby World Cup squad.

Moore is believed to have suffered a stress fracture two weeks ago, and wore a protective moon boot in the hope that the fracture would heal, and he could take part in Ireland's RWC warm-up clash against Wales last weekend.

However, he was deemed unable to participate in that match, and having been cut from Joe Schmidt's squad, has opted for surgery, and will be sidelined as a result for between four to eight weeks.
