Leinster loosehead prop Cian Healy today underwent surgery on a disc problem in his neck, but at this stage is not thought to be a doubt for the Rugby World Cup in September.

The fact Healy underwent surgery was revealed at the press conference following Leinster's Pro12 victory over Treviso, with head coach Matt O'Connor stating that the surgeon wanted to operate early in order to ensure no nerve damage.

Given Healy's position on the pitch the medical staff want him to make a slow return to training and play, but at this stage it is believed he should be fit to feature in Ireland's Rugby World Cup campaign in the autumn.
