Leinster and Ireland hooker Sean Cronin faces a race to regain fitness in time for Ireland’s World Cup warm-up games after having surgery to repair damage to a tendon in his shoulder.
Cronin faces 12 weeks on the sidelines after having the surgery on Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement from Leinster.
The operation has gone well, the province said.
Barring further complications, Cronin is expected to be fit for when Ireland play the first of four warm-up games for the World Cup against Wales on 8 August.
