Ulster centre Luke Marshall has been suspended for five weeks for kicking an opponent in the head.
The Ireland international appeared before a citing committee following an incident during Ulster’s win over Scarlets last week.
The committee decided that the foul would have warranted a red card and this type of offence carries an entry point of eight weeks.
This was reduced by three weeks after the committee, who found that there were no aggravating factors, took into account his previous good record and suspended the 24-year-old until 12 April.
Marshall will miss Pro12 games against Dragons, Cardiff Blues and Connacht.
Meanwhile, Ulster’s Roger Wilson received a one-week ban for striking an opponent in the same game.
The panel judged that he should also have been sent off but said that the action was “reckless rather than intentional”.
Back row Wilson will miss the game against the Dragons.
Leinster’s Ben Te'o was warned about use of the forearm in the tackle arising from an incident during their game against Ospreys but the committee ruled that it was not worthy of a red card and imposed no suspension.
