Ulster 30-0 Edinburgh
Ulster got back on track after last week's shock defeat at Zebre with a bonus point win over Edinburgh though, again, produced a far from vintage display in getting there.
Two tries from Andrew Trimble - he scored the first and final tries to bag the bonus point - along with touchdowns from Nick Williams and skipper Rory Best saw Ulster home after they had led 13-0 after a pretty dire opening 40 minutes.
The scores from Williams and Best came while the Scots were down to 14 men while the remainder of Ulster's points came from two Paddy Jackson penalties and a conversion along with one conversion from Stuart Olding.
Paddy Jackson got Ulster off the mark in the 13th minute after the home side won a penalty off a scrum but Jackson was then fortunate not to be carded for taking an Edinburgh player out in the air. Jack Cuthbert missed the chance to get the Scots going.
Jackson was then wide with his second penalty chance, one which was clearly kickable, before Ulster broke the deadlock on 24 minutes through an Andrew Trimble try which came after impressive work from Stuart McCloskey who put him clear.
Jackson added the conversion to put Ulster 10-0 up though they failed to trouble the scoreboard again until the end of the half.
It was Trimble again who initiated a burst which saw the home side move right and left across the width of the pitch in Edinburgh's 22 only for the Scots to inevitably concede a penalty and Jackson delivered to make it 13-0 at half-time.
Things didn't improve on the resumption, with Louis Ludik being turned over just short of Edinburgh's line after Ulster tried to bring some tempo to the game, and then the Scots were pinged for a crooked feed at a five-metre scrum after opting to maul over Ulster's line from a kickable penalty in the 49th minute.
Andy Warwick, on at half-time for Murphy, was at least making an impact and after another scrum penalty was won on his side, Ulster moved it wide off a lineout only for Payne's pass to Tommy Bowe to float well forward.
Still, Ulster pressed on and Best was held just short of the line just prior to the home side winning a penalty and going for the corner.
The upshot was another penalty to Ulster and a yellow card for Edinburgh skipper Mike Coman.
Replacement Nick Williams was then driven over but was held up and Ulster kept pressing, going for the corner despite a numerical advantage suggesting they should have opted for a scrum.
The score came, though, and after a loop round the front of a lineout from Chris Henry, Williams got over in the left corner in the 62nd minute.
Stuart Olding on for Jackson missed the tricky conversion but Ulster now looked pretty safe at 18-0 up and this became 25-0 in the 67th minute after Best got over off the back of a lineout maul with Olding this time making the conversion.
The bonus point inevitably came with two minutes of normal time remaining when Trimble got over for his second in the right corner with Olding failing with the difficult conversion.
