Munster and Ireland utility back Keith Earls has been ruled out for four months with a patellar tendon injury sustained during pre-season.
Earls underwent surgery on his right knee this afternoon in in order to alleviate the injury following a consultation with a specialist.
The province also confirmed that Donnacha Ryan will undergo surgery on his foot this Thursday.
