Munster have confirmed the signing of Argentinian hooker Eusebio Guinazu on a four-month contract.

Guinazu will join the province later in the month subject to obtaining a work permit and passing a medical.

Munster boss Anthony Foley was under pressure to recruit after Mike Sherry was placed on the long-term injury following a recent shoulder surgery.

32-year-old Guinazu has just completed two seasons at Bath and has previously played for French clubs Biarritz and Toulouse and Super Rugby side the Stormers.

The Mendoza-born international has 36 caps for his country and featured for Argentina in the 2013 Rugby Championship campaign.

Foley said that Guinazu would help Munster “hit the ground running” after injuries to Sherry, Niall Scannell and Damien Varley.

“We have short-term setbacks with Niall Scannell rehabbing from wrist injury, and Damien Varley managing a foot injury, but with Sherry ruled out until next year it is great that we can call on the services of an experienced versatile player such as Eusebio,” Foley said.

In other squad news, Cian Bohane will undergo a scan tomorrow after sustaining a knee injury on Friday night in Munster's victory against London Irish at the Waterford RSC.

Munster open their Pro12 campaign on Friday night in Thomond Park against Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, Munster have sought to move on from what they described a "human error" whereby management feedback meant for individuals was sent to the province's players as a group.

A Munster spokesperson said that "an email went out in error, due to human error,” but that the matter had been discussed at a meeting of the squad and management, and that "it’s a case of back to business now.”

The Sunday Independent reported that the management report, which contained comments about players, and where players were considered to be, in relation to their positions, was sent in error to the squad.

The Munster spokesperson said that the feedback contained in the report would normally have been sent to players on an individual basis, but that it had been sent, in error, to the group.

However, the spokesperson said the matter had now been dealt with, and there was "there is no controversy from our end".
