Mike Sherry will captain the Munster side when they take on Scarlets in Llanelli tomorrow on Saturday.

The 24-year-old old becomes one of the youngest players to lead the side following on from Peter O’Mahony who led the side in the opening games of the 2011/2012 campaign.

Sherry, who agreed a new two year contract last month, starts in Parc Y Scarlets  ahead of Damien Varley who also has just penned a deal that keeps him in Munster until 2015..

There are changes aplenty in the Munster side with internationals Donncha O’Callaghan and Ronan O’Gara included and that means a switch to full back for Ian Keatley, a position he occupied before this season against Dragons and Racing Metro.

Besides Varley, Felix Jones has also extended his contract with Munster, and like Varley, with a two year deal.

Munster XV to play Scarlets:
I Keatley; D Hurley, I Dineen, JJ Hanrahan, J Murphy; R O’Gara, D Williams; W du Preez, M Sherry capt, BJ Botha; D O’Callaghan, I Nagle; CJ Stander, T O’Donnell, P Butler.

Replacements: S Henry, J Ryan, S Archer, B Holland, S Dougall, C Sheridan, D Barnes, C Laulala.
