Munster captain Paul O'Connell may yet play before the end of the season after a further scan revealed his ankle injury, picked up in the Magners League against Leinster, was not as bad as initially feared.

It has been reported that his season was over however a further assessment in Dublin yesterday confirmed the injury was not season ending.

He is expected to be in a position to return to action in four weeks time meaning he could be available to play if Munster make the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup final on Friday 20 May or the Magners League final on Saturday 28 May.
