AIB All-Ireland League Division One champions Shannon have parted company with their coach, Geoff Moylan.
Shannon won a most dramatic extra time league final against Clontarf by virtue of scoring the first try.
Moylan was deeply disappointed when told of the club decision.
A Shannon spokesman said that it was with a 'heavy heart' that the decision not to re-appoint Moylan was taken and stressed that he had made a huge contribution to the club.
But, the spokesman said, some unresolved issues remained from last season and the club is anxious for the first team who will play in the new top 8 tier to be taken in a new direction.
Moylan coached Shannon to three of their nine All-Ireland League wins.
A three man committee carried out a full review of last season which included input from all interested parties.
The club spokesman said that differences of opinion had arisen between the executive committee and Moylan.
A four-man committee is to look at the coaching structure for next season and the name of the new coach will be announced shortly.
