Declan Kidney is hoping the inexperienced line-up he sends out to face Georgia tomorrow can match the performance their colleagues put in against Canada on Wednesday.
After a hard-fought 30-19 victory at Infinity Park, Kidney has made nine changes to the side for the match in Denver and will be looking for his young charges to build upon the squad's successful start to the Churchill Cup.
‘I was particularly pleased at the way in which the side kept in the game on Wednesday and showed great composure to pull through and win,’ Kidney said.
‘That will be great experience.
‘We are continuing to try to look at players who we may not always have the opportunity to work with during the season.
‘The game against Georgia gives us another chance to see how the players fare at this level against a side that will be certainly anxious to put in a good performance after being stung by Canada last weekend.’
Canada beat Georgia 42-10 last weekend, suggesting Ireland's team should be capable of a hefty victory.
The summer tour to North America was designed to allow Ireland to assess as many of their emerging players as possible and the team that played on Wednesday featured 14 changes from the Ireland team that played the same Canada side in a full international at the end of May.
Of the further nine changes made to the side for the Georgia match, seven will be starting an Ireland game for the first time this summer.
Cian Healy starts at prop in place of Bryan Young with Denis Fogarty starting at hooker in place of Sean Cronin.
Donnacha Ryan retains his place in the second row and is joined there by Trevor Hogan, with Leinster team-mate Devon Toner taking his place on the bench.
Niall Ronan, who won his first full Ireland caps against Canada and the USA last month, comes into the team in the back row in place of Sean O'Brien, who has returned home with a knee injury.
Tour captain John Muldoon starts the game at number eight in place of Chris Henry and Niall O'Connor is given another start at fly-half.
Frank Murphy, who came on in the Canada game, takes over from Isaac Boss, while there are three new faces in the three-quarter line with James Downey, Simon Keogh, and Ireland A debutant Felix Jones starting at full-back.
